Sunday Juice

This Sunday was Market-Sunday! Now that everything is setting down we decided on a fun market day in Brussels. And.. we took our neighbour along. It was such nice weather, and we had such fun. We started out with a cup of Moroccan tea and pancakes at the South-market. Then we headed up to the Abattoir-market for some fruit and veggie shopping, and some fish. With the fruit we made two amazing juices with our steam juicer.

Uni Therapy: apple-gooseberry juice

Apple-gooseberry juice

  • 1.5 kg gooseberries
  • 2.5 kg apples

Cut into pieces and put into the steam juicer. You will end up with little over three litres of juice.

Uni Therapy: strawberry-kaki-apple juice

Strawberry-kaki-apple juice

  • 3 kg strawberries
  • 2 kg kaki’s
  • 1.5 kg apples

Cut into pieces and plunge them into the steam juicer. You will end up with little over 4 litres.

Thesis and door knobs

Now that I have more or less finished my thesis (just waiting for my promoter to check it a last time) I have the feeling I’m free again! Whoohooo!! This morning I went shopping with my new found freedom. To be honest I always go to the same stores, but hey, they have a lot. My hands-off favourite store is the Action (I promise this is not a sponsored post – I whish it was though). It has a huge amount of stuff, all cheaper than in other stores, and best of all they often change their products. This morning I found the coolest doorknobs. Just look how cute they are.

Uni Therapy: door knobs

For now, I’ll keep them in the closet.. waiting for the next project that calls for cute knobs. Oh, before I forget they were only 1.40€! That is the price of a single boring knob in any other store.

Medusa bust inspiration

This Medusa has been floating around the web for some time, and it has totally inspired me. This should be a doable DIY project right? We’ll have a real hard think.. and make it. Soon…

I have already spoken to Toms mother about finding a plant that resembles snakes as much as this one. She advised me to get either Wilcoxia Schmollii, Echinocerus Schmolli, or Euphorbia Flaganii. We’ll see what we end up with.

Camping love

image

image

I’m officially in love with the tent-designs form FieldCandy! If only I had the money to buy one of these. Although.. the comfort level of a tent is not even close to the one of our very comfy foldable-thingy. I should probably take a couple of painting courses so I can paint a happy cow or some sheep on our foldable-thingy!

The Throne – part 2

We’re about halfway through getting the covers off the throne. My god, you won’t believe how much crap is falling out of it! All the foam has disintegrated, so that is falling out, together with grey fluff, straw, and dirt. We have already filled a vacuum cleaner bag and a couple of trash bags, but it just keeps on coming. Getting all the staples and nails out went way faster than before with our new DIYed tools!

Next on our list is getting the rest of the fabric and crap (nothing else I can call it) off, and taking a good look at what’s left.

Camping & Amat’s birthday!

This weekend we went camping again, this time in Divion (France). As usual by now we took Amat with us. We spent the most of Saturday Geocaching and melting in the French heat. Sunday we spent celebrating Amat’s first birthday, Geocaching, and off road driving towards Geocaches. All in all a great weekend out.

DIY Reupholstery Tool

Uni-Therapy: DIY Reupholster Tool

Now that we have The Throne to start on, we’ve been looking around for some more specialised tools. One of those was the small reupholster crowbar (it’s designed to get nails and staples out a little easier), however, at a price of 35€ it was just a little too expensive for our taste.

Essentially the reupholster crowbar looks like a screwdriver with a V-shape cut into the top. Something we could do our selves! We used two screwdrivers that were small enough to fit under a staple, but strong enough to be cut. Tom (with a little help from his dad) placed them one by one into the vice, and ground a V-shape in it using the angle grinder. All in all it cost us a lot less than 35€, and it works just as well!

P.S. If you really want to make your work easy, try using a screwdriver with a magnetic tip for this project. You'll thank me later.

The Throne

Uni-Therapy: The Throne 1
Last Saturday we went to the thrift shop (I know we shouldn't), and bought this God awful chair. For the moment we have dubbed it ‘The Throne’, just until we find a new cover and a new name. Yup, it’s our new project!

Just as a fun anecdote, the chair was priced at 35€, but after the cashier mistyped it, and we found some money between the cushions (not kidding here), we ended up with a 6€ discount. Not bad eh.

Even my parents are gardening

When I was little my parents tried having a veggie garden. However, everything died it soon became a flourishing cactus garden. To my surprise they've started over again. As you can see it's growing slowly.. and it's still alive (yay).
